A Slice of the Moon

SOLD

This original artwork is created using quality Windsor and Newton watercolour paints on 100% cotton watercolour paper.

The painting measures 10” x 14” in total size. The image itself measures 7.5” high x 7” wide.

The photos in the slide show give wee highlights of the progress of the piece. It was an absolute joy to paint.

I have applied gold leaf detailing which compliments the slight iridescent paints used to give a magical sheen in appropriate places.

There’s a story that goes with all my works and this wee treasure is no exception.

A slice of the moon.

”Let’s go and get ourselves a slice of the moon”, said papa hare “Our burrow is shady and our garden can’t be admired. A slice of the moon will give us a sliver of silver and we’ll get our sparkle back”

Wee Filib agreed. (Filib’s name means ‘lover of horses’ in Gaelic and he was just that)

So, off they went on their journey to reach the moon. A tiny twinkle sparkled in the undergrowth and Filib looked down. Papa was focused on the moon ahead.

“Little hedgehog” whispered Filib, “Would you like to come with?, we’re off to get ourselves a slice of the moon”

“Can I”? whispered Hedgehog…I only have tiny legs and wouldn’t want to slow you down”

“We have all the time in the world” said Filib. “To unfold all the precious things. The moon will wait for us”.
