‘None Braver than Brim’

No one knows when the day will come to be brave.

For Brim, that day was today.

A sunny day, a shiny still pond day.

Aromas of warm honey and salt earth.

Scents that you can’t ever breathe in deeply enough.

Essences to fill your nose, reach you toes and stay there forever.

Across the still pond. A swan.

Smaller that most. Taunted by taunters.

Brim lifted her skirts and waded in to the shine.

Green eyes on the mockers.

Scooping the soft feathers and trembling heart beat.

Brim stood, her day was today.
